Bloor Homes HQ

Project Overview

With Bloor Homes seeing continued growth over the last few years, their existing office space became too small. A new facility was required with increased meeting space, training facilities and more than 9,700 sq ft of open-plan offices.

Phase 1 of the project consists of 2 separate buildings, both being constructed by Seddon.

RED were successful in securing the sub-contract glazing package after clearly demonstrating their understanding of the project requirements and offering value engineered solutions to bring the scheme in on budget.

Design

The architectural design for the 2 buildings had to be in keeping with the rural surroundings whilst maximising energy efficiency through product technology – ensuring great thermal performance and maximum light transmission.

1 building will be used by Bloor Homes North West for their new office facility whilst the other is to be used as open-plan lettable units.

Of particular importance to the design was the horizontal capping detail. Initially the architect specified a hybrid system utilising a horizontal gasket and silicone joint to provide a flush external appearance on the horizontal transoms. However, RED’s design team were able to provide a value engineered solution which gave the architect the required aesthetic whilst providing a significant cost saving. The architect and client were both pleased with the samples provided and indeed the finished results.
