Herculaneum Quay
Project OverviewThe two 15-storey towers at Herculaneum Quay, form part of Liverpool’s exclusive waterfront project. RED Systems provided a full envelope including the provision of all mast climbers and external access, plus materials which are designed to withstand the harsh marine environment.
The development initially started in 2007 and then ground to a halt during the recession of 2008 with only the steel and concrete frame completed up to the fourth floor. Back in 2015 with new investment the project started moving forward again with the client selecting a unitised system fabricator from overseas. However, the system failed during the design process when the fabricator was unable to provide CE Marking. At that point RED were asked to get involved and provide a solution, reverting back to the original ‘stick’ curtain walling design, fully CE Marked and all in accordance with British/European Standards and Building Regulations.
