We hope you and your loved ones are safe and well during these uncertain and difficult times.

Last week we tried to contact as many of our clients as possible to find out how they were managing to continue their work from home and to assure everyone that RED is very much open for business despite many sites being closed. We would like to provide you with the following update to confirm our current situation.

RED Systems remains a well-capitalised business with no debt or bank covenants.

We are currently experiencing supply chain issues as a result of government enforced non-essential manufacturing in many European countries which is preventing production currently. Once the manufacturing restrictions are lifted we have stock within our facilities to commence fabrication on all current live projects and forecast a further 4 weeks beyond this for normal stock levels to be attained.

RED currently are operating on five live projects utilising existing stock and are supporting our supply chain through sharing of H&S best practice to ensure that when manufacturing restarts they are able to supply materials to us as soon as possible.

These are extremely challenging times and our upmost priority remains the health and safety of our employees and the wider community.  We have a strong balance sheet and cash reserves and are taking all necessary steps through the present circumstances to ensure that we are well placed to support economic recovery.

We would like to confirm that our various departments are still actively working and looking for opportunities to assist our clients, we would therefore like to provide the following update with regards to our team at RED:

  • Our Estimating Department are still pricing tenders with a healthy level of enquiries still being received. The majority of our key suppliers are also supporting us with our estimates and are returning their quotes quicker than normal (presumably because we are one of the only companies still actively pricing new work). Our estimating department would be very pleased to receive your enquiries and provide any other assistance you may require – high level budgets, costs plans, technical information etc.

  • Work in our Pre-Construction Department continues as normal to support our estimating activity, therefore, should you require any assistance with site logistics, programmes and methodology – we would be happy to assist as required.

  • Our Design Department are busily working away on several key projects (including a significant new order received last week). We have capacity for further new projects – we are happy to work under design orders or letters of intent to keep projects moving forward in readiness for the end of the current working restrictions. We believe that projects will need to be accelerated as soon as the restrictions are lifted, so we need to be ready to press the ‘go button’ by getting the project designs approved and signed off ready for manufacture and installation.

  • Our Contracts Department are currently in discussions with a number of clients with whom we have live sites established. The company in conjunction with our Health & Safety Consultants and the HSE has produced a draft version of COVID 19 Site Operating Procedures to overcome the restrictions of social distancing in our site tasks to enable essential site works to continue. The procedures and protocols are extremely stringent to ensure the safety of our operatives and the wider community will not be put at risk. Once this has been agreed we will forward these procedures to all of our clients. We also intend to issue this to our suppliers, other competitors within the glazing industry and other sub-contractors we work alongside. Always people before profits. However, if we can remove any potential risks, keep our people safe and healthy, then it’s imperative for the construction industry to continue. We recognise we and other sub-contractors play a huge role in keeping the wheel of construction turning, so the sooner we can get things moving the better.

Please feel free to get in touch with us to discuss any of the above. We have provided the key contacts below. But please bear in mind that as everyone is getting to grips with video conferencing technology we are finding this is the best means of communication, and our first choice would be to hold any meetings face-to-face via Microsoft Teams, Skype or Zoom.
