The Portal, Ellesmere Port

Project Overview

We were delighted to be appointed as curtain walling partners by main contractors Vinci, for this high profile project close to our Cheshire HQ in Ellesmere Port.

Work commenced in early Spring 2020 and within weeks the entire country stopped in its tracks as the Covid 19 pandemic hit. Once the Government announced construction must continue, we devised our own stringent, Covid safe working practice, and joined our colleagues from Vinci back on site.

Construction of the building continued throughout the pandemic and the project was delivered, on time, in Spring 2022.

The building has been constructed with many environmentally friendly elements including solar panels, air source heat pump and electric vehicle charging points.

The Portal, Ellesmere Port

It’s been a real pleasure to work the guys from RED again. The project wasn’t without its challenges, the Pandemic being the main one, but the team from RED took everything in their stride. Communication was excellent from the very start & the hands-on approach from RED management has been totally refreshing.

This project represents a key phase in the Ellesmere Port Masterplan and the construction works generated circa £5.3 million local spend, provided 27 local jobs, 106 apprentice weeks and opportunities for local schools and colleges to learn more about the construction industry.

The Portal now provides a state-of-the-art base for local public and third sector organisations such as Citizen’s Advice, Job Centre Plus and the Work Zone.
