Team RED ‘Takes Action’ For Mental Health Awareness Week

Our team have embraced the theme for this year’s Mental Health Awareness Week and will be ‘taking action’ this coming Friday as they leave their desks and site duties behind, for a day out in nature.

We join forces with colleagues from GROW CIC & Knowsley Wellbeing & Nature Alliance for a day of ‘action’ at their Bowring Park sustainability & wellbeing hub…

Along with a packed programme of activities including practical help in the centre’s Walled Garden supporting the local growing initiative, the team will also be supporting their own mental health with a Woodland Wellbeing session which will see them embrace nature with a range of forest crafts, sensory experiences and relaxation techniques.

The day forms part of our ongoing commitment to supporting the work of Knowsley Wellbeing Alliance. Along with 24 other partner business, we are proud to be founding members of the Alliance, with a shared mission to turn collective investment into structured activity for the local community.

Speaking about the day of action, RED Systems’ Head of Organisational Change, Lisa Morris said:  ‘The team are all super-excited to be heading over to the campus on Friday. We’ve always championed mental health awareness in the workplace, but this initiative really helps on two fronts. It gives our team the chance to choose a positive action to support their own mental health, whilst helping to build mentally healthy communities, workplaces and schools through the amazing work of the Bowring Park team.

The initiative, which is centred around the regeneration of Bowring Park, has been designed to kick-start a coordinated commitment to create measurable social impact in the borough. Led by the team from Oneday Ltd, in partnership with GROW CIC, we are delighted to be able to play a part in delivering an innovative, sustainable campus, focussed on developing skills and improving wellbeing, which will in turn improve the local environment and create positive employment pathways.

Knowsley remains one of the most economically challenged boroughs in England, with long-standing health inequalities and lower-than-average physical activity levels. Research shows that well-managed green spaces can play a key role in improving mental wellbeing and supporting healthier lifestyles — particularly in areas facing deprivation.

‘And we are not stopping there either!”, commented Lisa. We’ve got a packed programme of fringe events happening across the week at our Neston HQ and we see this day of action as the first step towards regular interaction and support for this amazing initiative.
