It was a historic moment for the town of Stockport as the new multi-million-pound Stockport Interchange and rooftop Viaduct Park officially opened their doors to the public. A Testament to Collaboration and Innovation

In collaboration with our esteemed partners at Willmott Dixon and our specialist SFS division, RED Optimal, RED Systems Limited has contributed a comprehensive glazing and SFS dry envelope solution to this landmark project. Our team successfully installed 3,570 m2 of windows and curtain walling, featuring the advanced Metal Technology Ltd’s 5-35 hi+ glazing system and System 17 curtain walling.

Impact Beyond Construction

The Stockport Interchange project has not only transformed the architectural landscape of Stockport but also generated substantial social and economic benefits:

  • Employment Opportunities: The project created 160 new jobs, bolstering local employment.
  • Apprenticeships and Training: Over 800 weeks of apprenticeships and training have been provided, nurturing the next generation of skilled professionals.
  • Work Placements: 102 work placements have been offered, giving valuable industry exposure to participants.
  • Skills Programmes: The launch of three Building Lives Academy skills programmes, designed to support care-leavers, armed forces veterans, the long-term unemployed, and young people with special educational needs, underscores our commitment to community and inclusivity.

RED Optimal & RED Systems Collaborate on a Major Development in Edinburgh

RED Optimal and RED Systems have announced their collaboration on a major construction initiative in the vibrant heart of Edinburgh city center.

The project involves the extension of the existing Jury’s Inn on Jeffrey Street and the development of the new 125-bed NYX Hotel, managed by the main contractor, Edgewater Contracts & Specialist Joinery Ltd.

This ambitious project, situated close to the iconic Royal Mile and surrounded by historically significant listed buildings, has presented unique challenges and opportunities. Early engagement and strategic planning have been crucial to navigating the complexities of the site.

The collaborative effort will focus on delivering a comprehensive package that includes the supply and installation of the SFS System from Steel Formed Sections Ltd, complemented by Benx Façades RCM Y-Wall Carrier Board and EPDM from OBEX UK. Additionally, the installation will incorporate TECHNAL UK’s FY65 Windows and PY65 Doors, tasks that will be expertly handled by the RED Optimal team.

This landmark scheme is expected to make a significant impact on Edinburgh’s cityscape, combining modern construction techniques with the area’s rich historical essence.

Progress Update on Glasswater Locks Project

The latest updates from the Glasswater Locks construction project, undertaken by St Joseph Berkeley Group Plc, indicate significant strides in the building phase. The project has now entered a crucial stage with the fabrication fully underway and the onsite installation of over 7,000 square meters of windows and curtain walling has begun.
